Riva Rose Bay - Custom Entry Foyer Counter

Created especially for Riva Rose Bay, this custom entry foyer counter was designed as an introduction to the craftsmanship and considered detailing found throughout the restaurant.

Inspired by the timeless elegance of the Italian Riviera and the beautifully crafted Riva boats that inform the venue’s interior, the counter brings together warm timber and natural woven texture in a piece that feels refined, tactile and distinctly handcrafted.

Each pencil reed of rattan was individually hand laid over a custom-built timber frame, creating a finely textured surface that wraps the counter and gives the piece its character. The repetition and precision of the rattan celebrates traditional furniture-making techniques while complementing the wicker, warm timbers and natural materials used throughout Riva.

Behind the handcrafted exterior, the counter was designed to work hard within a busy hospitality environment. Concealed shelving provides practical storage for the front-of-house team, while integrated power is discreetly hidden within the structure, keeping the working elements out of sight.

Designed and made specifically for its position at the entrance to Riva, the finished piece is both functional and architectural. Setting the tone from the moment guests arrive and reflecting the level of detail, materiality and craftsmanship that defines the venue.
